First K-Car On The Route 15. As soon as SEPTA returned trolley service to the Route 15 on Sunday, June 16, 2024, its first revenue trolley car operation in over 4 years, the Friends Of Philadelphia Trolleys worked with SEPTA to schedule a charter. Trolley service on the SEPTA Route 15 is now provided PCC-IIIs. SEPTA 9000, the first of the Kawasaki cars that have been the stalwarts of the Philly trolley lines for over 40 years, was recently repainted into its "as delivered" paint scheme. Kawasaki cars do not operate in revenue service on the Route 15, making this a rare experience and the first time that it has visited this line since repainting. The group arranged for a number of special photo stops, including a meetup with a privately owned GM TDH-4519 bus to add to the unique experience.
