CSX Office Car Special On Metro-North's Hudson Line - Before The Trip With CSX. On May 16, 2026, MTA Metro-North Railroad and CSX operated a special train for the 25th Anniversary Gala of the First Responders Children's Foundation. This organization "Help(s) support the children and families of first responders who have been killed or injured in the line of duty." The excursion brought passengers from Grand Central Terminal (GCT) to Riverdale in the Bronx, New York, before returning to GCT, where the guests detrained to attend a party at Gotham Hall. This trip was on the tail end of several CSX Office Car Special (OCS) runs, which had brought the consist to the River Sub for a Shipper's Special a week prior. Because the last time the CSX Executive Fleet traveled to Grand Central Terminal was in 2002, this was indeed a "rare mileage" excursion for these cars. While CSX maintains trackage rights over the Hudson Line inherited from Conrail, Penn Central, and New York Central, it does not operate between CP 5 (Mott Haven in the Bronx, New York) and GCT. The moves at Croton West also included a locomotive swap between CSX and Metro-North to allow the train to run into GCT under third-rail power. On the morning of Friday, May 15, 2026, the train deadheaded from Selkirk, New York, to the CSX Croton West Yard in Croton-On-Hudson, New York, ahead of the trip.
