The Autumn Colors Express Mega-Album. The 2022 Autumn Colors Express (West Virginia, operated by Railway Excursion Management Company) featured an eclectic set of Amtrak and CSX power to bring 18 passenger cars full of people from Huntington, West Virginia to Hinton, West Virginia (and return) over its 4 days. The power would run around at Hinton for the return trip. Approximately 2800 passengers traveled on the train to visit the City of Hinton Government/Hinton Railroad Days and walk around the city. The Chesapeake and Ohio Historical Society even supplied retired railroad workers and other volunteers as docents and to narrate the scenic route for the visitors. This was the first fall foliage tourist train here since 2019 due to pandemic related restrictions, but it carries on a decades long tradition that dates back to the days when Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad still ruled the rails.
