Amtrak 696, AMTK 184 (40th Anniversary), Boston, Massachusetts
Phase IV At Tower A. On July 7, 2018, Amtrak Train 696 (Downeaster) was arriving in at Boston, Massachusetts North Station with AMTK 184 (P42DC, Phase IV, 40th Anniversary) as it passed the former Boston & Main Railroad Tower A building with the Leverett Circle Connector Bridge in the background. This locomotive was one of the original group repainted into a older scheme (Phase IV was used on locomotives from 1993-2000) for the railroad's 40th Anniversary, but was subsequently repainted Phase V (AMTK 164 was painted Phase IV to 'replace' it) and returned to service. While switches in this area are now remotely controlled from another location, a bridge operator still works at Tower A to control the Charles River crossing.
