Amtrak Lake Shore Limited, Back To Back P32s In Phase III, Poughkeepsie, New York

Back-To-Back P32s On Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited. The “back-to-back” P32AC-DM look in Phase III evokes the image of a classic Amtrak long-distance train. This previously unusual presentation of the Lake Shore Limited has become a variation of the new standard as East River Tunnel construction continues in New York Penn Station. The train is 7-8 cars, and before the construction, it would pull around the loop in Sunnyside Yard to reorient the train for the next day's departure. But as capacity has become more restricted, the locomotives will now run around the train instead. For about a week at the end of May, 2025, this power was common, but has mostly given way to a P32/P42 mixed set.
