Heading To The AAPRCO Special. On Thursday, October 2, 2025, Amtrak 49 (Lake Shore Limited) had the now standard back-to-back pair of P32-P42 locomotives for power from New York Penn Station to Albany-Rensselaer, New York. Behind the power was the "Blue Ridge Club". The car was on the way to be part of the AAPRCO Autumn Explorer, a now annual tradition that allows people to buy tickets to ride a train of private cars across the Vermont Railway System.
From AAPRCO: "The Blue Ridge Club was built by Pullman-Standard in 1950.....for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway’s George Washington Blue Ridge Club.....The car went into private ownership and was modified to its present configuration of 3 Double Bedrooms and 1 Master Suite with Kitchen, Dining and Observation Lounge (Blunt End)....large 28-seat dining/lounge observation lounge.....Blue Ridge Club has accommodation for 8 overnight guests in 3 Double Bedrooms (with upper and lower berths) and 1 master suite with a full-size lower berth."
