Bag Heavy Consist. Due to an electrical system issue with Viewliner II baggage cars, many of them were withdrawn from service for modification in late September and early October and needed to be deadheaded around the system for modifications. The Amtrak Lake Shore Limited was lengthened by these cars during this time. The resulting elongated consists are seen here on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 30, 2026, with Train 49 running with 9 cars, while Train 48 swelled to 10 cars, including 3 extra baggage cars. Both trains were photographed near the MTA Metro-North Railroad station in the Bronx, New York.
