The Southwest Chief (Train #3) arrived on the evening of August 3, 2016 with an even larger consist than usual. With the Amtrak Exhibit Train on its way to Pueblo, Colorado on what may be its last round of public trips, it was spliced directly into the consist. Lead by P42s 48 and 121 (Phase V), P42 156 (Phase I) was chosen to power the Exhibit Train when it will ultimately split off on its own and is followed by F-40 NPCU 406 (Phase III). With its illuminated letters, the magnificently restored Union Station Kansas City Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri provides the backdrop for the scene.
