Amtrak Empire Service at Buffalo Central Terminal, Buffalo, New York
A classy landmark. As Amtrak Train 63 (Maple Leaf, 707 P32AC-DM, Phase III) passes Buffalo Central Terminal on the afternoon of Sunday, October 13, 2019, its passengers will make their next station stop at the Buffalo Exchange Street Station. Opened by the New York Central Railroad in 1929, it served passengers until 1979, succumbing to many factors including its immense size and maintenance demands. Although it had gone through a period of decline, including the loss of much of its interior fixtures in addition to degraded external appearance, the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation has owned the building since 1997 and has worked on the massive undertaking of restoring this complex of structures to their former glory.
