As AMTK 822 (P40DC) pulled into the former Mobile, Alabama Amtrak Station with the ‪Amtrak‬ Gulf Coast inspection train P960 on February 18, 2016, local fire trucks held up an enormous American Flag to mark the occasion. Service to this station and all points east of New Orleans, LA on the Sunset Limited route was suspended on August 29, 2005 ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Katrina, making this was the first and to date only Amtrak train to travel the line since.
