On Thursday, May 29, 2025, AMTK 703 suffered mechanical problems on an Amtrak Empire Service train. The locomotive was left in Croton Harmon and repaired by the MTA Metro-North Railroad shop. On Friday, Amtrak Train 8910 was operated from Albany-Rensselaer, New York, to retrieve the locomotive, bringing two Phase III painted units into the shot when the engine was picked up near the yard. This heritage paint scheme is now standard on the Rensselaer based P32AC-DM fleet, but can only be found on one diesel locomotive in Amtrak's national fleet.

With the arrival of heritage units, there has not been a better time in decades to grab the camera and go trackside to see what combinations one can capture.
