The First Berkshire Flyer. It was three years ago today on July 8, 2022, that the first Berkshire Flyer (Train 1235 on this day) operated from New York Penn Station to Pittsfield, Massachusetts. P42DC AMTK 108 (50th Anniversary, Phase VI) was added to the south/east end of the train in the Albany-Rensselaer, New York station to allow the train to change ends and return from Pittsfield, Massachusetts. While the train is in its 4th year of operation, it has used buses to substitute for trains (1237 on Fridays and 1233/1246 on Sundays) from Albany-Rensselaer to Pittsfield due to a track condition on the Amtrak Post Road Branch this year. According to Amtrak's online ticket booking system, buses are also being used in place of the Lake Shore Limited (448/449) between Albany-Rensselaer and Boston, Massachusetts seven days a week.
