Amtrak Maple Leaf-Adirondack Combo Train. For over a month, the Amtrak "Maple Leaf" (Train 63) and "Adirondack" (Train 69) have been running combined from New York Penn Station to Amtrak Albany-Rensselaer with a locomotive at each end, and reciprocally, Trains 64 and 68, creating a 10-car train. This allows the train to go into Sunnsyide Yard at night and change ends to depart in the morning without looping. The train is split or assembled in Albany. While it is unknown how long this consist arrangement will continue, the combination of both trains has been suggested to last the duration of the tunnel construction project. Frequently, there is a P32AC-DM at the south end of the train and a P42DC at the north end, which has been Phase II heritage unit AMTK 130 a number of times in recent weeks.
