Amtrak 237 departs NY Penn Station at 1640, and the next day might night even be outside in open air before the 1650 sunset. The train is double-ended to facilitate changing ends in Penn Station, but for an unknown reason has a pair of locomotives (AMTK 87, P42DC, Phase VII and AMTK 106, P42DC, Phase V) trailing.

Amtrak On The Hudson Line Before The Clocks Change. Saturday, November 1, 2025, was the last day of Daylight Saving Time for the year, and a good time to be trackside in Scarborough, New York, for Amtrak in the afternoon on the Hudson Line. As it turned out, all three trains would have been in the dark the next day. All three trains also provided a variety of paint schemes to go along with the fall color still on the trees. As for late day light...we will see you again in March.
