Amtrak Empire Service, Amtrak Train 233 AMTK 716, New York
Photography From Pollepel. One of the more famous landmarks in the Hudson River is Bannerman Island Arsenal on Pollepel Island near Fishkill, New York. One of the lesser photographed views is to shoot a train from the island. Boat trips to tour the exterior of the castle looking structure leave regularly in season from Beacon, New York. The structure in the foreground is called "The Twin Towers", part of harbor perimeter around the island, in this area 'guarding' The Wee Bay. The full story of Bannerman and Pollepel Island is worthy of several volumes, but in short, the Bannerman family was dealing in military surplus munitions and had to find a location that was not near other residential property. On May 3, 2015, Amtrak Train 233 passes with AMTK 716 (P32AC-DM) still in its Phase V paint, headed from New York Penn Station to Albany-Rensselaer, New York.
