Bridge Plates Are Out, Service Is Back. On the morning of Tuesday, September 7, 2021, Amtrak Train 63 (AMTK 705, P32AC-DM leading) was the first Empire Service departure from New York's Penn Station since service was suspended on the night of Wednesday, September 1, 2021 due to the effects of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Ida, seen passing through the Greystone Station in Yonkers, New York. MTA Metro-North Railroad has fully reopened 2 of the 4 tracks on the Hudson Line and is employing bridge plates at the effected stations to allow passengers to safely board on what are usually express tracks. While the typical Empire Service train is 1 engine and 5 cars, this train is double that size to return the balance of equipment to normal order. Metro-North is operating on a modified schedule.
