Amtrak Train 864, AMTK 740, Mohawk River, Schenectady, New York

Three To Seven Together. An unusual test train was operated out of Amtrak's Albany-Rensselar Shop on Monday, March 18, 2024. Testing various upgrades, including PTC installation, Train 864 is seen crossing the Mohawk River in Schenectady, New York. The train includes an astounding 5 of Amtrak's 7 paints schemes, Phase III through Phase VII. This was the first time the Phase VII painted AMTK 740 led on train since arriving on the property as part of a large group of overhauled GP38-3s to enhance Amtrak's non-revenue fleet.
