CMRR 407, Phoenicia, New York
Looking down the nose of Catskill Mountain Railroad Alco S1 407 (ex-SIRT 407, exx-LIRR 407), we catch a view of the historic Ulster & Delaware Railroad Phoenicia Station at just before 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 23, 2016, on what would prove to be the last full day of tourist passenger train operation. Time appears to have finally run out for the Mt. Tremper section of the line, which will utilize rail bikes in 2017 under an agreement with Ulster County. The county’s governing bodies continue to push having the rails removed in their entirety and replaced with a trail.
