Not the Last Day for the CMRR Out of Mount Tremper. Ten years ago today, on May 29, 2016, with the threat of forced abandonment looming over their operation, the Catskill Mountain Railroad (CMRR) Alco S1 (ex-Staten Island Railway 407, née-Long Island Rail Road 407, 6/1946) was operating for what was feared to be the last time. The train is captured crossing Andrew Lane in Mount Tremper, New York, with its standard consist. Ultimately, this portion of the CMRR's operation ended in October 2016, and today, only railbikes traverse those tracks. However, the Kingston side of the former New York Central Catskill Branch remains active for both the CMRR and the Trolley Museum of New York.
