Conrail North Jersey's Santa Train 2025 The Conrail Shared Assets (CSAO) North Jersey Santa Train returned on Saturday, December 20, 2025. This year, CSAO "Santa 1/OI-85" was led by New Jersey Transit (NJTR) 4208 (GP40PH-2B, ex-Conrail 3191, née-PC 3191, GP40, 10/1968), which was on loan to CSAO for this event. Although it was built for freight service as a GP40-2, it found its way into the Altoona rebuild and sell program, and passenger service on NJT. In 2023, it was repainted into what some might call a Conrail "heritage scheme", but is remarkably similar to the actual paint that it wore during its time with "Big Blue". It was joined by an NJT Comet V cab car, a pair of decorated flat cars, and a Conrail caboose that was repainted into the traditional blue and white colors. The train made stops for employees and their families to visit with Santa at Oak Island Yard in Newark, New Jersey and Port Reading Yard in Port Reading, New Jersey, before returning to Oak Island Yard.
