Pan Am On The Hudson. CSX's 21st and final heritage unit, CSXT 1981 (ES44AH, Pan Am Railways), crossed Poplopen Creek next to the Hudson River in Fort Montgomery, New York, during the late morning of May 18, 2026, leading train I168-16. In 1998, Guilford Transportation Industries bought the name, colors, and logo of Pan American World Airways and changed its corporate identity to match. In 2022, Pan Am Systems, the parent company of Pan Am Railways, was purchased by CSX Transportation. Since then, various portions of Pan Am Railways have been operated by CSX or contracted out to shortlines.
