9 Years Ago Today....DC Transit
On the night of Saturday, October 15, 2016, DC Transit 1101 was one of several streetcars used during a rare night photo shoot event at the National Capital Trolley Museum (NCTM) in Silver Springs, Maryland.
This 1937 PCC was equipped for both overhead trolley pole and underground conduit operation. As a pre-war car, it features compressed air-operated appliances, and lacks standee windows. On January 28, 1962, it was part of the "Last Day Of Streetcars" event in DC, and was donated to the museum by DC Transit System President O. Roy Chalk in 1970.
