11 Years Ago Today…..Race To Overpeck. The 4,400 horsepower each of CSX K038 (Cicero, IL [BNSF]-South Philadelphia, PA) with CSXT 260 (AC44CW) leading and CSX Q008 (East St. Louis, IL-Little Ferry, NJ) with 3052 (ES44AC-H) leading were neck and neck at CP 5 in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, on June 10, 2015. The loaded “K Train” was in the process of passing Q433 and would make it to Overpeck Creek first. CSXT 3052 would become CSX 1851 (NC STL Heritage), and CSXT 260 has since been retired. Hiding in the background is all black PRLX 3806 (née-CO 4825, GP38, EMD, 7/1970), which was on the roster at the same time as NYSW 3806 (née-Oakway Leasing OWY 9067, SD60, EMD, 12/1986). And to truly place the era, just look at the billboard on the right: an ad for the $4.99 McDonald's "Sirloin Third Pound Burger”, which famously survived on the menu for just a few months.
