Conrail Lives, If You Know Where To Find It. April 1, 2023 marks 47 years after the creation of Conrail from the remnants of several northeast railroads to restore solvency to the industry and just under 24 since its dissolution, but there are still painted examples of "Big Blue" around the system. At CSX's Oak Point Yard in the Bronx, New York, NYC 21107 (ex EL C326, née Erie C326, N-7D, 1952-1953) survives as a "shoving platform" and is used around the yard when certain switching moves are made. The "NYC" reporting marks originally belonged to the New York Central Railroad, but became the marking for equipment that was received by CSX in the Conrail takeover. Seen here on February 4, 2023, the paint is unmodified since the end of Conrail as a "big railroad". Conrail Shared Assets exists today in three metropolitan markets.
