IHB 4010, Riverdale, Illinois
When A Good Train Becomes A Great Train. It was a long day for the crew that worked the transfer job from East Chicago to Blue Island on Indiana Harbor Belt 3861 (SD38-2) and 3801 (GP38-2) on January 31, 2021. When they outlawed amidst a "traffic jam", a crew was sent from Blue Island to relieve them, bringing IHB 4010 (GP40P-2) and 4012 (GP40-2). IHB 4010 is former SP 3197, later becoming SP 7600 before going to Union Pacific. It was 1 of 3 GP40P-2s built, distinguished at that time from other GP40s by then having a flat back to accommodate a steam generator for passenger service. The consist is seen passing through Riverdale, Illinois just outside of the Blue Island Yard with all 4 standard cabs.
