America250 On The Island. On the morning of Sunday, June 21, 2026, MTA LIRR DM30AC LI 521 led Train 6006 from New York Penn Station to Montauk, New York. This locomotive's wrap was recently introduced, bringing the America 250 logo to yet another railroad. The LIRR design combines the America 250 theme with a heritage scheme based on the railroad's GP38-2s delivered in 1976, some of which featured a red stripe for the Bicentennial. The train was photographed passing through the Forest Hills station in Queens, New York, where a significant construction project is underway to rebuild the platforms, with the Manhattan skyline in the background.
