Rails On Train. MTA Metro-North Railroad GP35Rs 107 (née-SOO 728, GP35, 5/1965) and 106 (née-PRR 2274, GP35, 5/1964) were paired up on the "Rail Train" seen sitting on Track 6 just south/east of the Riverdale Station in the Bronx, New York on the evening of Tuesday, September 20, 2022. A rail train carries continuously welded rail to places on the railroad where it is needed which expedites rail replacement, planned or emergent, and also eliminates the "clickty-clack" of stick rail. The GP35Rs were rebuilt by Brookville and have been a mainstay of the Metro-North work fleet, the original 6 (101-106) later supplemented by 107 and 108. A passing Poughkeepsie bound train with MNCW 226 (P32AC-DM) shows the matched paint schemes of the standard cabs with road power. In the background, the George Washington Bridge spans the Hudson River.
