New Paint Meet. Late in the day on Saturday, June 21, 2025, a chance meeting brought together Amtrak and Metro-North's newest paint schemes in Riverdale, Bronx, New York. On the left, Amtrak Empire Service Train 241 is led by P42C AMTK 9700 in Phase VII. The P42Cs (cab car) is a conversion from a P42DC, leaving in place most of the standard locomotive equipment in a deactivated state. Their use is intended to facilitate trains changing ends more quickly at terminals. To the right is MTA Metro-North Railroad MCNW 203 (P32AC-DM) on Train 8754. Released into revenue service on Friday as the railroad's 7th heritage unit after overhaul, it is painted in "Two-Tone M Central Heritage", representing an FL9 paint scheme from the late Conrail period of operation.
