Engineering Inspection Vehicle. In the past week, MTA Metro-North Railroad IC 2020 "Engineering Inspection Vehicle", has been making the rounds in daylight on the Hudson Line. Glen Hayden, then Vice President of Engineering for MTA Metro-North Railroad for whom the vehicle is named, said of its purchase: “The Track Geometry Vehicle now gives Metro-North in-house inspection capability; the railroad can examine track and make necessary repairs with greater speed and efficiency, resulting in cost savings. It will allow Metro-North to inspect track to meet Federal requirements as well as to verify quality of track production efforts.”

The IC 2020 was built by ENSCO Incorporated in 2020 for MTA Metro-North Railroad. "The track geometry vehicle is a diesel car fitted with innovative and advanced gadgetry specifically designed by Ensco Inc, which will measure track geometry, gauge (ed), alignment, cross-level, surface, alignment, speed, twist and warp at 30cm intervals to ensure the tracks meet regulation standards."
