MTA Metro-North Railroad FRA Geometry Train And More

The U.S. Department of Transportation/Federal Railroad Administration DOTX 216 was built by Budd in 1967 as Penn Central Metroliner 803, and was later converted to Amtrak 9642 before coming to the FRA. The DOT states that it "supplements track geometry inspections performed by the Office of Safety Cars". On September 5, 2026, it covered sections of the Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven Lines on MTA Metro-North Railroad. The train is double-ended to facilitate changing ends. The train is shown crossing the Woodlawn Flyover in the Bronx, New York, on the New Haven Line to access the Harlem Line.
