MTA Metro-North Railroad/LPS Laser Train (2025). Last year signified the start of the second full season of at-speed Laser Train running. The train was able to dramatically expand the trackage it could cover to remove leaf residue by increasing its running speed, and thus regular runs were made to Southeast, Danbury, and, as necessary to New Canaan, Poughkeepsie, and Waterbury. The train is based out of MTA Metro-North Railroad's Croton Harmon Yard, and covers the Lower Hudson Line as part of every move. On this day, December 8, 2025, it was powered by the newest BL20GHM rebuild, MNCW 115. Good timing near the Yankees-153 Station in the Bronx, New York yielded a meet with the AMMO (AM MOtt Haven) switch crew utilizing MNCW GP35r 101.

The Laser Train car (MNCW 5010) is one of two Comet IIIs (5009 is the other) purchased by the MTA for West-Of-Hudson service. After retirement, the pair came to the east side of the river, and one has become the Laser Train car while the other sits in storage. In it operates with either a Brookville BL20GHM or a GE P32AC-DM.
