Day One Of The 90 Minute Super-Express. On the evening of Monday, October 6, 2025, MTA Metro-North Railroad/Siemens SC42-DM MNCW 301 led Train 863, seen passing through High Bridge in the Bronx, New York. This train is running on the first day of a new schedule that includes 3 sets of "Super-Express" trains that make limited stops between Poughkeepsie, New York, and Grand Central Terminal, inbound in the morning (818/832/836) and outbound in the afternoon (849/853/863). Five of the trains are scheduled to make the trip in under 90 minutes and one in 95, and the faster acceleration of the SC42-DM suggests that they will make frequent appearances on these runs.

The locomotives are much quieter than their predecessors and also significantly more fuel efficient while providing more power. While the (present) GE P32AC-DM fleet changes from electric to diesel mode around the Harlem-125 Street Station, MNR has stated that this locomotive is designed to operate on third rail to the Croton Harmon area, where electrification ends.
