Sunday Snow Day With Chargers. Winter Storm Fern arrived in the New York Metropolitan area on Sunday, January 25, 2026, bringing temperatures in the teens and notable snowfall. Amtrak and MTA Metro-North Railroad continued to operate on a slightly reduced schedule throughout the day, bringing back-to-back Poughkeepsie-bound trains with SC42-DMs and some Amtrak special interest units. Due to the weather, the SC42-DMs were operating in diesel mode.
