Single Track, Seeing Double. On the evening of Friday, April 23, 2026, MTA Metro-North Railroad Train 980, with MNCW 301 (SC42-DM), was passing through Pawling, New York, when it saw its own reflection in the Swamp River. This portion of the Harlem Line is by far the most rural of MNR's East of Hudson operations. The single-track line traverses farms and forests, featuring a handful of sidings to allow trains to pass one another along the nearly 30-mile stretch from Southeast, New York, to Wassaic, New York."
