Hello Berlin! NJ TRANSIT Train 4678 (4217 GP40PH-2B, ex-Conrail 3218, exx-Penn Central 3218 GP40, built 11/1968) is on time passing through Berlin, NJ after stopping at Atco on the way to Philadelphia, PA on the Atlantic City Line on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. The line is being shut down (starting today) for several months to accommodate PTC related work and free up crews and equipment for other lines, with buses being used to substitute service. The Berlin Station is nicknamed “Long-A-Coming Depot” and is not used by New Jersey Transit. Built in 1856 by the Camden and Atlantic Railroad (succeeded by the West Jersey Railroad, Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines, Conrail, and NJ Transit), the station was closed in 1969 and added to the NJ Register of Historic Places in 1997.
