NOPB 3002, New Orleans, Louisiana

The Best Part Of Wakin' Up. New Orleans Public Belt Railroad 3002 (née-L&N 3020, GP40, EMD, 9/67) was running its final days for the NOPB when it was seen approaching the Almonaster Avenue Bridge over the Inner Harbor Navigational Canal under the Interstate 10 Highrise Bridge in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 16, 2020. This locomotive has since been sold to Nebraska Central and the Belt has now transitioned from what was its signature red and white colors to blue and and white. In the background is the largest Folgers owned roasting plant, which opened here in 1960. In 2005, it was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina. The company temporarily housed employees whose homes had been destroyed by the hurricane on the grounds of the facility, and would become the first major industry to reopen in the city.
