NY Transit Museum Nostalgia Specials For Yankees Opening Day (Part 1 of 2): The Lo-Vs

On Friday, April 3, 2026, the MTA NYCT Subway/NY Transit Museum operated a pair of Nostalgia Specials for New York Yankees Opening Day from 42 St-Grand Central to 161 St-Yankee Stadium. The four-car set of Interborough Rapid Transit (IRT) Lo-Vs is over 100 years old and has become a fixture of Yankee special events. The popularity of this event in recent years led to the addition of the more modern SMEEs as a second train to accommodate more passengers. This Nostalgia event is included in the regular fare, and anyone can ride for no additional charge.
