NYTM Special For Knicks NBA Finals R32, 34 Street, New York, New York
Knicks Special For Special Knicks
On Monday, June 8, 2026, MTA NYCT Transit and the New York Transit Museum operated an 8-car train of Budd-built R32s on the “K Line” for the Knicks home game, Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. The 60-plus-year-old cars are a fan favorite and are nicknamed “Brightliners” for their shiny stainless steel exterior. The “K Line” was the successor to the “AA Line”, a local that operated between 168 Street and the World Trade Center on the 8th Avenue Line in Manhattan for many years, but was mothballed in 1988 when service patterns changed. But it returned for at least one night to honor the New York Knickerbocker’s first trip to the NBA Finals since 1999.
