New York Transit Museum R32 Special For Knicks Victory Parade

On Thursday, June 18, 2026, MTA NYCT Subway and the New York Transit Museum operated an 8-car train of Budd-built R32s on the “K Line” for the Knicks' victory in the NBA Finals. The 60-plus-year-old cars are a fan favorite and are nicknamed “Brightliners” for their shiny stainless steel exterior. The “K Line” was the successor to the “AA Line”, a local that operated between 168 Street and the World Trade Center on the 8th Avenue Line in Manhattan for many years, but was mothballed in 1988 when service patterns changed. But it returned for at least one night to honor the New York Knickerbocker’s appearance in the NBA finals, and a second day for their first NBA championship in 53 years.
