Holiday Nostalgia Special. On November 30, 2014, Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA Subway/New York Transit Museum R-9 1802 (Pressed Steel, 1940) is the youngest member of the 8 car train that it leads while making the stop at 5 Avenue-53 Street in New York, New York. The train is already completely packed inside only 3 stops from its terminal in Queens Plaza. The "Holiday Nostalgia Special" was always an major attraction for riders, many of whom dressed in 1930-40s period clothing and stayed on the train all day. The train operated in between regular service with no extra fare required. While it last operated in 2019, some of the cars can be seen on display at the New York Transit Museum at the Court Street Station in Brooklyn.
