Seven Car Set. On May 25, 2019, North Shore Railroad's (NSHR) Shamokin Valley Railroad (SVRR) operated a pair of passenger trains called the "Heritage Festival Express" from Shamokin, Pennsylvania. The train is seen curving around Route 61 in Paxinos, Pennsylvania, bracketed by a pair of EMD SW1500s. All seven of the cars on this train were purchased by the Reading & Northern Railroad and on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, interchanged at the Mount Carmel, PA connection between the two railroads ending 27 years of passenger operation on the SVRR. In a press release, the R&N has announced that the cars will be aded integrated into its fleet for upcoming excursions this year.
