Tunnel Stop. On April 15, 2016, New York & Atlantic Railway (NYA) operated a pair of inspection trips on the MTA Long Island Rail Road Bay Ridge Line using NYA 300 (PR20B, Progress Rail), which had been delivered less than a month prior, and NYA Caboose 52. This rare excursion provided an opportunity to see how this line transects Brooklyn from the NYA Yard in Maspeth, Queens, New York, to the Brooklyn Waterfront. During the return trip, attendees were allowed to get off the train for a photo op at the former LIRR station at East New York and Van Sinderen Avenues. The face of the East New York Tunnel reads "City Of New York Grade Crossing Elimination 1914”, and the last passenger train operated here in 1927.
