Evacuation Train. A string of 5 New York & Greenwood Lake cars and former Erie E8(A) 833 were pulled out of their long time storage in Port Jervis, New York on April 29, 2021. The crew of H55 on board Norfolk Southern GP38-2 5610 (née-SOU 2820, GP38) brought the consist to the yard in Campbell Hall, New York, where it is seen just after crossing the bridge on the former Erie Railroad (now owned by Norfolk Southern, leased to MTA Metro-North and operated by New Jersey Transit) that crossed over what once was the Ontario & Western Railway and is still known as “The O&W Bridge”. Norfolk Southern is 1 of 5 railroads that have rights to operate here (including the aforementioned Metro-North, NJ Transit as well as the New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railway and Middletown and New Jersey) perhaps making this once of the most shared stretches of track in the United States. The consist would tie down in Campbell Hall that night, then go to the NS Yard in Croxton, New Jersey before eventually winding up at SMS Lines in Swedesboro, New Jersey where they remain today.
