The End Of Pan Am Systems. PAR 1 (néeCN 6505, FP9A, 9/1954) was one of the out of town stars at the N.C. Transportation Museum "Streamliners" event in Spencer, North Carolina. As seen on May 29, 2014, the unit was on public display along with a wide variety of other EMD and Alco units from across the country. Formed from a variety of railroads including the Boston & Maine and Maine Central in 1988 as Guilford Rail System, the name and corporate identity were changed after bought the name, colors, and logo of Pan American World Airways. On June 1, 2022, Pan Am Systems and its subordinate companies including Pan Am Railways and Pan Am Southern will become part of CSX (100% owner of PAR, 50% owner of PAS) in cooperation with Norfolk Southern Corp and Berkshire & Eastern Railroad (subsidiary of Genesee & Wyoming), significantly altering rail operations in New England. Hiding in the background is Southern Railways 6133 (née-CNOTP 6133, FP7A, 4/1950), ironically representing this subsidiary holding.
