Summer of 2020, Side by Side. Before the first trip on August 15, 2020, Reading and Northern Railroad fans were treated to a nice impromptu photo shoot. RBMN 425 (Baldwin, 4-6-2) was getting ready to run the Lehigh Gorge Scenic trips for the day, while former CSX SD50-2 5018 was on display to show off the new “Fast Freight” paint scheme in Jim Thorpe, PA. Announced as the idea of ownership, management, and employees, it represents a departure from the Reading Railroad yellow and green that clads the rest of its freight units. It would not be an understatement to say that these 2 engines dominated the Northeast Pennsylvania railroad scene for the season.
