Ready For Paint. The Naugatuck Railroad’s former Norfolk & Western Railway GP9 859 (EMD, 6/1959) arrived on the property just under 3 years ago in need of major mechanical and cosmetic work. At that time, for pragmatic reasons, the railroad opted to put sister unit NAUG 686 into the shop and did the necessary work to make it operable. With 859 it was decided to do a complete rebuild, including high voltage work and replacing significant portions of the body. A visit to the “Naugy” on Friday, April 22, 2022 shows that the unit has been almost completely reassembled and is ready to be painted.
