The efforts of a necessarily rapidly assembled organization came together on Friday, December 18, 2020 in Utica, New York. Just over one month prior, the new owners of the Utica Children’s Museum let it be know that former Adirondack Railway Corporation Alco RSC2 25 would no longer be welcomed on their property, and would be scrapped in short order if no one made an appropriate offer and transported it off the site within a short time frame. This engine was originally ordered by and delivered to Seaboard Atlantic Line in 1949, and came to New York State to operate for the ARC between Utica and Lake Placid, New York for the U.S. Winter Olympics in 1980. The Remsen Depot in Remsen, New York, located on the former New York Central Railroad Adirondack Branch and served by present day Mohawk, Adirondack, and Northern Railroad (MA&N) and the Adirondack Scenic Railroad offered a home. Sufficient funds were raised to allow for a contractor to move the engine to the MA&N property, as it is pictured here on rubber tired dollies. On Wednesday, December 30, 2020, it would be reunited with its own trucks and transported to the depot.
