Diverting For Diversion Trackage. As so often happens, on Sunday, June 16, 2024, there were too many places to be at the same time. While the Route 15 was making its re-debut, the Friends of Philadelphia Trolleys chartered SEPTA "K-Car" 9000 for a trip across the West Philadelphia lines. This car, the first of the Kawasaki cars that have been the stalwarts of the Philly trolley lines for over 40 years, was recently repainted into its "as delivered" paint scheme. While the earlier trip in April has visited the Subway, this trip traveled across the "Subway Diversion Trackage" in University City that is not part of any regular route and is used during the "Subway Maintenance Blitz" in the summer when heavy maintenance is done underground, as well as other non-revenue moves as needed.
