SEPTA Trolley Diversion 2025

SEPTA Trolley Diversion 2025

SEPTA Trolley: Subway Tunnel Blitz Diversion Service

On August 5, 2025, the "West Philadelphia" SEPTA trolleys (all lines except for the G1/Route 15) that normally operate to the trolley subway from the 40th Street Station were instead detoured to cover the 'diversion tracks' in University City, where commuters can transfer to the L/Market Frankford Subway at 40th/Market. The detours were part of scheduled maintenance of the infrastructure in the trolley subway from July 11 to August 11, 2025. These tracks are used during the annual subway maintenance blitz, and otherwise only for non-revenue moves. Amongst other projects, SEPTA lists: maintenance of signals, deep cleaning, replacement of overhead wire, and track. Last year's "blitz" was extended due to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, being a major host of the FIFA World Cup 2026
