Bye Bye Bredas. Hours ago on Monday, November 3, 2025, it was announced that you can catch the last ride on an SFMTA (San Francisco, California) Breda Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) when it runs on the J/Church Line on November 12, 2025, from 11:45 AM to 9 PM. The Breda LRV3 cars were built 1999-2003. This order followed the acceptance of the similar Breda LRV2 cars, which were constructed 1995-1998, and together they completely replaced the Boeing LRV1 cars. Starting in 2016, 249 Siemens S200/LRV4 cars have been arriving, with the last car projected to be delivered at the end of the decade. While San Francisco is known for its Cable Cars, it is actually dominated by electric traction. Since the earthquake of April 18, 1906, the rebuilding of the city's transit scene included streetcars, and the system has seen a variety of models from early cars that were similar to cable cars (MSR 578) to heavyweights like the "Iron Monsters" (SFMR 130) to PCCs, and the present-day LRVs.
